The First of Many

Earlier this month, the first of many Quarterly 3-Day Novel Challenges occurred. Though I was the only participant, I am not discouraged. I feel my efforts yielded a great bounty of rewards, and I am hopeful that this writing campaign will pick up.

What is the Q3DNC?

My name is Kimber Grey and I am a fiction author located in central Indiana. I recently competed in Vancouver's 3-Day Novel Contest. It was a very motivating competition and I was very proud of the work I accomplished. The premise of the contest is, naturally, to write a novel in just three days. Whatever you get done, you ship off to the judges. The winner earns publication, and the second and third places receive cash prizes.

I was so inspired by this contest that I found myself mourning the event when it was completed. I didn't want to wait another full year to do it again. I had challenged and surprised myself, and I wanted to do that far more often. As a result, I inquired around the other contestants, and was pleasantly surprised to find that many of them also wanted to try this challenge more often than once a year. So, I offered a simple solution: The Quarterly 3-Day Novel Challenge.

The Quarterly 3-Day Novel Challenge is intended to be a friendly-competition motivated exercise. The dates for the challenge coincide with Vancouver's 3-Day Novel Contest, which happens over Labor Day Weekend in September. Thus, the dates for our challenge would be December 4-6, March 5-7, and June 4-6. There is no entry fee for the challenge, and the only reward is a completed first draft and a huge feeling of accomplishment. But if that is enough for you, please feel free to join in the action.
